Kirsty Grierson

Kirsty Grierson has a background in puppetry and was involved with Terrapin Puppet Theatre for several years both as a performer and workshop coordinator. She has toured in numerous productions both nationally and internationally. In 2000 she started working with Tasmanian communities and local councils to help initiate and create art projects.

In this area she has worked as a facilitator, performer, community producer, workshop leader and director. In these roles Kirsty has worked both independently and with companies such as Big hArt. Kirsty has worked closely with children and young people developing and delivering artists in residence programs and workshops both within the education system and independently in communities. Kirsty has worked with most forms of puppetry including marionettes, bunraku, object theatre and shadow. Over the last 2 years Kirsty has been collaborating with Leigh Tesch on developing theatrical experiences for very young children and parents.

I am passionate about providing theatrical, meaningful and creative experiences to communities. I love that through puppetry and storytelling it can transform a space and support the participants learning and development. Developing and delivering workshops where communities can enjoy a safe space to explore these art forms and be encouraged to continue to do so in their home environments is a rewarding experience. Through this work I am able to extend and develop my own ideas that relate and feed directly into to my art practice. Working with like minded artists encourages me to grow as an educator and artist.
