Artist led creative encounters connecting children, families and community in partnership with Salamanca Arts Centre

about

The stART project began with a partnership with the Salamanca Arts Centre and has seen Artelier artists delivering an ongoing series of creative encounters for children.

A primary focus has been that the encounters have been designed for children and their parents/carer fostering co-creation, collaboration and play-based learning.

These artist led creative encounters have been aimed at two age groups, 0-5 and 6-12 and designed considering ArTELIER’s guidelines for high quality creative encounters; that they provide agency, have clear intentions, develop trust, are multimodal, comfortable with uncertainty, co-created, flexible; provide space for (deep) listening; appropriately consider the time allocated and materials; and are accessible and sustainable.

StART has also been a platform for collaboration and peer learning between ArTELIER artists. We have built time for reflection, mentorship, peer exchange and support into the program.

We are currently working on a new program to shift towards online creative encounters, stay tuned….
