Pip Stafford
I am a Hobart-based artist and producer; Communications Co-ordinator at Contemporary Art Tasmania, co-director of Private Projects and one-half of Sisters Akousmatica. My work can be found in the form of installation, video, sound, performance, printed matter and online projects. I have multifaceted sound practice, using hand-built radios, transmitters and other electronic ephemera and I have worked with communities and young people for most of my career. In 2013 I was an artist in residence for Arts Tasmania at Hobart College and in 2015 I was the lead artist in Hobart for TMAG’s Mark Your Mark project, for which I worked with a group of young people around the theme of ‘respect’. Since 2015 I have collaborated with Julia Drouhin as Sisters Akousmatica, an expanded radio project that encompasses curatorial and artistic projects, as well as developing workshops specifically for young people.
